True Other than the artificial hikes in Richmond Hill ( must be the elevation ) - initial coin is flat at or very near issue for all dealers...which bodes well for those eyeing the rest of the set -

@MoneyPenney, I agree. Plus when you see a 1kg up close at a coin show they are not all that impressive.

2018 Big Coin series. Beautiful Voyauger, the Penny.....
What happens, when the hype is over? Check the other resource for the collector's thoughts.

I ordered a subscription from Colonial Acres. Each coin is $525 plus you get about $30 in points on first coin. I received the first coin and it was absolutely stunning, however, it was defective. There was rose gold plating where there should not have been. I returned it and am waiting for a replacement. If the replacement isn't perfect I will likely cancel the set. If the coin is perfect, this set instantly becomes one of my favourites.

I was told that there were 1427 subscriptions = 1427 pennies.

@Relic Your probably right, Imo I believe that the sets or subscriptions never sold out and hence the single sale of the big pennies. You'll probably see many of the other 2018 big coins sell as individual coins as there aren't any big pennies left to make the sets. The subscription is all messed up since the RCM said that you can only get the penny through the subscription. Well we all know that isn't true. Another mess up by the RCM.

Did you see that there is to be another Big Coin series for 2019, "due to popular demand'?
Mintage 1250 Wood box included $569.95 each 7 coins with selective reverse gold plating

Yeah, I noticed this as well.
Finally they planning to mint them in the "reverse-gold" plating finish. This is exactly what collectors waiting for.
7 coins - probably means that 1cent (which was promised not to be minted after 2012) also in the set, and it will be available via subscription only.
The Loonie will be "flying Loon". Will the other coins also have some 'alternative design'?

"Due to popular demand", they had to lower the mintage.

Out of curiosity, for the centre of the toonie. Was it fully gold plated or partially gold plated. I've seen 2 types of renderings .

This is odd. I ordered the 2018 Big Coin One Cent - Maple Twig Design from TSC on the coin show awhile back and looking at the Canada post tracking it's being shipped from Ottawa. I believe it coming straight from the RCM. This is a first. Anyone else had their coins shipped from RCM when purchase from the TSC?
