Mark,.....I have no, many words for that exceptionally prophetic video. Unfortunately for the past 20 years us baby boomers have had to put up with some losers of ourpeers as President, I'm really, really glad I won't have to witness MILLENIAL PRESIDENT(S)!

Now I have to go change my sweats, I laughed so hard I had a Chris Matthew's "warm feeling down my leg" moment!

Don't be so sure.

I'm a Millennial (by most standards) and in 10 years will be the same age as our youngest President.

I'm 65 , not in best of shape and only have half of my brains left, in ten years, I won't care, sitting in a wheel chair drooling on myself, ain't growing up fun!

Either that or they'll have thrown me off the cliff by then, isn't that what the "they" are claiming is going to happen?

I'm not going to swear it's not a woodie. I've seen alloy issues in Braided Hair Large Cents. Since you only paid $15 and it's already been cleaned, you could clean the dickens out of it and investigate further. I'd never recommend cleaning coins, unless it's in the name of science.......which this could be.

I think it would be extremely unusual to find a large cent woody simply because they are composed of pure copper instead of an alloy. Yes, there is still a small chance for impurity inclusions but not nearly as great of a chance as there would be for an alloyed coin.

Good point.I'll just chalk it up to staining.

Good point about the pure copper, my error........but I have seen Braided Hair cents with some kind of streaking. If I see one I'll add it to the thread. So couldn't the planchet have some sort of imperfection/impurity in the copper? Hard to believe it was all pure with excellent quality control. The streaking on the OP coin matches almost perfectly in direction on the ob and rev.

The coin is not a *woody * ( improper copper mix)
It has been cleaned ,many years ago ..now it is in process of re-toning

Example: nice original toning 1851

I cleaned** this coin 10 + years ago.

See the coin now : is in process of re-toning completely ( example at 2 o'clock as a woody aspect )

The wood grained effect is due to natural toning of the copper. Some are fantastic, and highly sought after. However, I have never seen an uncirculated large cent or Half Cent with any hint of wood grain effect.
