You have to be particularly careful with Trade dollars -- there are many counterfeits out there. Best to buy slabbed (by a reputable grader) or ask us before you buy (and have good pictures of both sides).

It has the obverse of one coin and the reverse of another. I'd be pretty leery of anything purchased along with it, or from the same seller.

Never buy a potentially high value coin unless there's a somewhat decent return policy.

Quote: No return option? If you can find the person that sold it to you there is always a return policy because legal title to a counterfeit can't be conveyed. And it is also illegal to sell a counterfeit as a real coin.

It used to be new collectors were encouraged to buy the book before the coin. These days you don't need to buy anything before buying a coin. Basic research is available via the internet that can save you from making a purchase like this. If your phone is dead, walk away. If you can't match the photos with a working phone, walk away.

I can't imagine any retail operation that would want to draw attention to the fact that they sold a counterfeit coin. Bring it back there and if there is resistance, tell them you are filing a report with the police and will also be dropping a note on the FBI website.
