Excellent example of the variety. Strike has no bearing on a technical grade and I'd give this a 55 for that. Market acceptable at 58 because of the attractive eye appeal.

Thanks for your response. There are many Au and Ms CBHDs. Why choose a variety that is always weakly struck? At $400 it doesn't seem like this variety has much of a premium. Why not choose an example in a variety with a full strike? They seem to be readily available.

They seem to be readily available. I like the finely-engraved detail in the hair. That only ocurred in 1824 and 1825 (I think). I wanted an 1825 for my type set because I am trying to knock out as many types as possible with as few years as possible. 1825 is one of those years. So that leaves me with around a half dozen varieties to choose from. This one was available, while the others were not. I wanted to see one in hand, as I have not been able to find a nice example at a show. Of the varieties that satisfy my want, the two best-struck are the O-102 and O-116. The O-112 is third in best strike, tied with O-111. When I sell this one in the somewhat near future, I can set my eyes on an O-102 or O-116. Also, the relatively low price is because of the holder. The variety is an R-3, so there is not much premium anyway.
