Got the coin back today. I'd say it scored quite well, being listed as MS-64 Struck in Copper Piece Double Struck 2nd Strike Broadstruck.

Pretty nice to get it back just before Christmas! And the 50% off-center Kennedy I sent in with it scored MS-65, so double the fun.

Condition matters on error coins and you got a decent grade.

I'm not sure why anybody would knock this one down. It's an obvious error.

I agree with you Ken, but I could see the doubtfulness arising from the uniqueness of this error specimen and simply because it is hard to imagine that it could happen but, it did!

As for value I eventually did sell this one for $500 to a guy who I am quite sure was hoping to sell it for more and not just to keep it.

Yeah, this one was outside my primary collecting interests so turned it over to invest in things closer to my needs. I kept the MS-65 50% off center Kennedy that I found in the same batch as this one as it fit my collection better.

I remembered an image of another half that was struck once in collar and once out of collar. (enlarged the coin) but had a hard time finding it.

I wondered it was the same year or not? But I guess it isn't.

Cool! I always sorta guessed the coin was worth around $800 to the right collector, but wish them well at the price they have on it. That said, I checked and they listed it back in April, so it's been up a long time with no buyer so pretty sure they want too much for it.

Agreed, it is a little steep, but a beauty!
