Only thing I have in my mind is a possible "Mint Assisted" error, but I doubt it.

IMO there are two situations with this coin.
The "spike" is possibly a die crack.
All the other marks appear to be die scratches.
I don't see any doubling.

I can very easily see your point. It can be something as simple as that. Still a weird thing to happen though.

David, I take it you're in reference to the curved portion NW of lower curve of 5. Consider a struck through of sorts, debris.
The shape is that of the 5's leg. It could be a "plug". A greas-fill that fell out and was sequentially stamped onto the coin. Unusual, yes. These "plugs" usually spread out evenly and withe the squeeze pressure dissipate. This maybe the diamond pass/metal dust mix which would be harder than the die even. That would have made a die gouge in a distinctive shape as this. The "pass it on" until next die Polish

Yep, that's right Crazyb0. That was the area I was talking about, the curved thing that looks like the five. I agree that it might be a Dropped Letter from the hard, plugged in Grease that later fell out and got struck into the coin. Basically a Struck Through Debris error.

It doesn't match the curvature of the 5. I'm considering it a strikethrough of some sort, but not necessarily from a die feature.

It's a weird coin though. We will probably never know what it was Struck Through. It's a weird, but interesting coin with a very interesting error.

Keep in mind the ATB Quarters have the incuse devices on the outside rim area on the reverse. So any contact could make a mark that looks like it was a digit. Even MD happens on these and look like something when they are just die movement. The devices are raised on the die, so any die movement could make a digit that is out of place."

So it is probably MD or coin damage. Not worth what is bid for it!

Thank you Coop for solving this. I wasn't going to buy it anyway, I didn't even want to buy it because the coin was too questionable and I had a feeling that it wasn't what the seller thought it was plus I have no interest in buying it. After making my 40 dollar mistake buying that 2017 P LSC (Lesson learned of course), I am more careful on what I buy now. Since stuff like this is MD, I avoid any coins like this at any cost. This should be a important lesson for all new and experienced collecters.

The forums try to educate everyone, but not everyone visits the forums. Some people have to much money and not enough sense. They jump into something before they know what it is:

It must be a coin collector's right of passage to make a mis purchase(s). Like paying for 'collecting lessons' before learning what to look for.

Just because the seller wants $100 for it doesn't mean someone is going to buy it.

for sure nss-52. Not everyone is visiting the forums is also true coop, but a lot of people don't know how to find the boards. I got into all this recently by stumbling across some CRH videos. I think I 1st heard of the board because Coin-OP mentioned it in 1 of his YouTube videos. I have my knowledge (limited as it may be) from watching Coin-Op, Variety & Errors, HalfDolla, JBCoins, BlueRidgeSilverhound, etc. I started my list with those 2 in case your both here on this thread (just LYK great job if they're your videos). I don't know much about this hobby right now other than I'm having a great time finding my way around here and learning a ton. As I go through my multiple new 1st I will be sure to share them here with you all. Thanks to you all for sharing your experiences and the guidance. It is a great help.
Rest in Peace

But the problem is, nss-52 points out the high BINs, if it didn't hook some innocent, it wouldn't be used that way. Sadly, too many believe that a high price signifies something special, and with the help of the "Get rich quick on coins" mentality being promulgated today in the literary coin markets...suckers are born every day. Just witness how many visit here only never to return after being disappointed. Is very sad.
