The light obverse scratches don't show up on the PCGS photo; that means that they can't be too bad. It is possible the coin was scratched when it was part of the bulk lot. Whatever the case, that is the way it is. Apparently, PCGS saw the legend 'ADVANCE AUSTRALIA' as a striking weakness, perhaps a partly Grease Filled Die. Fortunately, there is still lots room between MS64 and MS69, so I would agree with MS64.

My name is Bill, and I have a similar story. After 20+ years of not even thinking about the coins my grandfather had left me,I found a 1915 threepence! It's deffinitely dirty but looking at it close,it's in the same shape examining the back shield I think mine has more. I'm just curious if This really is a good find. Hanks!

Quote: is it worth getting graded? Probably not Bill, unless the Obverse is in top condition. Others on here that specialise in pre-Dec. may have a more detailed opinion.

It's got next to no wear,it's just dirty. I'll try and take a detailed picture..also,I know better then to ever clean em,but should I do something to this one?like I said all the detail is there, but it's just dirty...thanks again guys for all the facts.

If you use acetone and a wooden toothpick to get some of the dirt off it shouldn't hurt the coin.

Quote: It's got next to no wear,it's just dirty. Yeah, but its got a wonky rim and star,i think it would struggle to get a reasonable grading IMO. Better photo of both sides will probably draw an opinion out of our more credentialed members.

Looks to be mid grade (about VF ) from the reverse photo which shows that it has moderate wear on it.A photo of the obverse would conform my suspicion
