In Canada, going to a bank for a note that was withdrawn from circulation in 1996, would be pointless.

Try some of these shop sites like Colonial acres and Jandm.com. They might have some over stock.

I have a bunch of Canadian $2 bills that are just sitting here doing nothing. I would offer them to you but coicommunity requires 250 posts before people can sell items. I'm gettin there but it will probably be a few weeks.

My point is that you may have to give the bank 2 or 3 days notice to pick up a $1,000 worth of $2 bills.

I think his point was that Canadian banks can't get $2 bills even with a years notice. Since they have been withdrawn from circulation, the bank has nowhere to get them from.

Yes, but you would have to pick them up in your DeLorean, and set the destination prior to February, 1996...

The Canadian government's way of trying to stimulate the economy by making $2's feel like change. Personally, I take it as a warning sign of our currency losing value.

The Canadian government got rid of the 1 and 2 dollar bills to save money as the same reason for the penny nothing else, at all GTA coin shows most dealers will be happy to sell you small bundles of two dollars for a very small premium.

Might I suggest trying to reach out to any local coin/Numismatic club?
I am sure that many people are sitting on circulated two dollar bills that will never be worth more than face value...

If you're on facebook, maybe start looking there.

Any major dealer will be happy to get rid of 500 $2 bills. Usually, these are in no short supply. You should have little trouble if you call the bigger players.

Like previous posters say, the $2 bill can be easily found from coin dealers.

Colonial Acres has 10 of them in average circulated condition for only $24.95. So you can get them for only $5 over face value.

Although they are sold out, you could get similar deals elsewhere.
