Matttheriley,
You are right about the Italian 20 Centisimi. These are also quite hard to find in mint state.

However, it's not really fair to compare base metal to gold or silver when determining overall attractiveness. Nor even one type of base metal to another. Better that each be judged within the confines of its own category, and perhaps even within specific grades. Here is a perfect example of a coin that looks dull and uninspiring in well circulated condition, but in toned MS, it is an eye catching blaze of bronze glory:

That is one beautiful Mexican coin- toned like a sunset, just like in the vignette! There must be some commonality in this beauty business because I also would go with the WL half as tops. I always liked (and still do) the simplicity of the IHC, although "beautiful" might be a stretch.

This is one of my most beautiful coins. It embodies Canada, and our history. Simple design that is timeless.

I've really come to enjoy the design of the 3-cent nickel coin. I bought one for my type set that arrived last Monday and the obverse image is quite beautiful.

Am I the only one who noticed that so many of the most beautiful coins posted have women on them? All of them attractive, some with wings?
