FWIW ... I purchased my example shown as a raw coin ... and had it certified only for my heirs to eventually sell. There seems to me to be a secret to success for any collector of anything ... coins being one of the topics. You need to do the research and understand from a technical perspective what your are interested in ... and base your buying decisions on that knowledge. The bidders on this fake 1955/55 DDO have not done that work ... and I encourage all of the CCF members to note that the purpose of this forum is sharing education. Its indeed a long journey to acquire knowledge ... each step counts. Do what you can to get there ... do not be a $400 bidder on a counterfeit coin.

It's still up with a bit more than a day left. Currently at $487.

The die chip on your left wheat stalk is a pure indication to me that it's a fake. Sad story :( I feel bad for the winner

Stupid question for the day... If there were bids on this item, how come it was unsold? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad no one got taken, but if there were bids shouldn't it have gone to somebody? The only thing I can think of is that the seller set a minimum and no one met it. Can someone enlighten me? I have zero experience as an ebay seller, only a buyer, and never anything this expensive.

If you click it mine says unsold but still has 23 hours left I don't quite know how that happened I think ebay may have did it but not sure why it just wasn't removed?

The listing was cancelled by ebay, or by the seller at eBays and I'm sure by a lot of other people's request......Mission Accomplished!

I am happy that it got taken down as thew bidders were going crazy! At one point, it was almost at 500.00. Thank god the seller or ebay took it down and I could easily tell it was fake just by looking at it!
Errers and Varietys.

Initially the seller killed all the bids and ended it. He likely got a ton of emails telling him it was counterfeit. Then after that happened, ebay killed it.

It may have been "tragic" but it was very believable.
