Sure Eddy,
I actually started on this forum and now I have more postings on the Stamp forum than here, but I enjoy the history ingrained in both. Enjoyable people on both forums and as you mentioned, many are on both. As the group above said, too many collections and so little time!

Eddy, a little bit of grammer,(punctuation marks and capital letters), would make your comments a lot easier to understand. Don't take offence at this, I mean it in a generous way. regards.

Anybody else see that special on discovery last night about how stamps are made?
They print them on 3 mile long rolls that are worth 5.5 million each once complete.
Crazy.
I have one stamp, and it's made of gold. I don't know where it came from honestly. It's some kind of celebration-of-Elvis thing

I used to collect stamps but that was a long time ago. I had several books with them and I remember they had to be put in place with some kind of sticky thing. Being of German decent my Dad had massive amounts of German Stamps from a long, long time ago that he gave me. Not long ago I gave the entire mess to some kid and only hope he saves them. I'm afraid stamps have gone the way of Beanie Babies, Hot Wheel cars, knives, baseball/football cards. Naturally there are those that are worth money but for someone to attempt to start a stamp collection, I feel sorry for them due to the governments production of stamps with almost anything on them including a kitchen sink. Not really, just an old saying.

My father recently passed, and he was an avid stamp collector. I was going over to the stamp board for a while after he passed. I wanted to learn and maybe get hooked on stamps myself. However the board is so slow, it doesn't keep my attention.
Even this board is borderline slow for what I am used to in my hobby forums. I don't have the patience for boards with only a couple posts per day... (like the stamp forum)
The good news is that even as slow as that board is, I have been bitten by the 'stamp bug'. I don't think I'll ever be as interested as I am in coins, cars, guns, etc... but I have been enjoying myself cleaning up loose ends and such in Dad's collection.
I have also discovered that stamps are relatively cheap to collect. Therefore, even though Dad has a great deal of neat and expensive looking stuff, I will probably never sell any of it because of the sentimental value.
As a matter of fact, I have found myself spending a bit here and there to add to the collection.
My .02 Fwiw... Dave

First just_carl.. I do hope that kid does something useful with them... ratio I know exactly what you mean, I wait for hours for a reply, but if it's too slow, I just click the link back to here! Maybe you should just go on now and again.
