Where did you purchase this?
I've never seen one with 5 quarters stuck in the back.

Interesting piece. Does it fit into a capsule?
Without documentation it might be hard to sell without guaranteeing the silver content but still unique

Thanks for everyone's comments! I purchased it along with some morgans and a few other coins someone was selling online and it did come in a heavy plastic capsule that fits perfectly. It seems to be well made and the stamping is clean. The edge is polished down in a small section to allow for the stamping of the serial number. Seems to be well made overall. Please let me know if anyone has additional questions or information.

Quote: someone was selling online Is this a reputable company? I can understand buying Morgan from "someone" online, but how did you conclude that the 10 oz silver piece is indeed 99.9+% silver? Especially, it has plated quarters stuck in the back. Just trying to protect you from a false claim online. Knowledge and due diligence are important when buying items from unknown online seller. If you can post a link, then we all can investigate, since the item is unique.

I really just took a chance on it based on the stamping and uniqueness of the coin. I'm going to bring it to a dealer I frequent to see if they have any information on it. Also, I just took it from the capsule and weighed it seperately. Total weight is approximately 278.4 grams. If I back out the 5 quarters at 5.67 grams each, I am left with 250 grams which I calculate to 8 oz. Hopefully I can verify that it is .999 as stamped but if not, it's a lesson learned.

Most of us have many "coin T-shirts", we've been there ourselves. This is a very expensive "chance" to take, hope it is OK, be thankful tho if it isn't...wasn't gold!

Thanks. Definitely would not have taken the chance with gold. There was a little mix of items I bought, all silver and everything else checked out from what I can tell. This is the only item I can't seem to get an ID on. I really do appreciate everyone's input. If I can find out what aftermarket manufacturer would have stamped the coin with a G, that would likely solve the mystery. I'll keep digging.

I bought one of these at a coin show a few years back. He was selling it for just a tad above melt and I was silver shopping that day. I feel it is genuine silver. I will try and remember to grab mine from my bank box next time I go and take a picture. But it's too cold to go there in the next couple of days. I'm staying in!

That's an awesome piece but they ruined it embedding the quarters.
