I live in central Missouri. With regularity I will find one, sometimes two 2009D per box. I have found 3 2009Ps since beginning to look through nickels in 2015, that's approximately 48k searched. Sounds like you got the 2009-Ds nickels out there, but not as much in quantity as I did. I'm finding about 1 2009-P nickel every 14,500 or so coins - a similar ratio to you.

South Florida. I found the P's in 2009 for the nickel and dime, I come across a few still but not in good shape really. I still haven't come across a 2009 D of either denom but it's been a good couple years since I searched dimes or nickels more than a dozen rolls or so at a time.
I'm usually searching quarters and pennies, Sometimes to get some rolls of others here or there.
anyways my point was the Ps were easy enough in South Florida in 2009. back then I wasn't searching boxes, was searching like $50 a week in mixed rolls and working at a restaurant and got a couple rolls of each of the cents and the dimes and nickels, I don't have them now though, I fell on hard times in 2011 and liquidated the rolls I was holding for cash.. and my silver hoard I had been saving since the 1980s.

Thanks for the information on that, Big-Kingdom. I'm not sure if it was you I spoke to a couple of years ago about this or not. Sorry you fell on some hard times in 2011. Have had to liquidate some of my coins and rolls the past several months as well, but things are looking up.

I, like most, have not found any thus far. What I have, one p & d of each nickel and dime, were bought for my date set. Personally, I think they are being horded by the roll.

Found a few s nickels and a bunch from the 40s and 50s.i live in lower michigan area btw. They are not in the best shape but I will hang on to a few. Especially the 2009s.

Yup, they're still just not out there. And it is still much worse for some people than others. Out here in Southern California, I find a 2009-D Nickel around every 700 coins. From what I've seen, this is not the norm - most people are lucky to find one every 2,000 to 4,000 coins. And the 2009-P Nickel seems to be a 1 in 7,500 to 1 in 15,000 or so find for most of us - though I've heard people in some parts of Florida have better luck. The just published 2022 Red Book has finally taken notice of the scarcity and demand for 2009-P and 2009-D nickels, listing an MS-63 at $3, and MS-65 at $5 - for several years, these values were .30 and .70 cents respectively, barely more than the generic .25 and .50 cent values in said grades. Personally, I have no problem getting $20 + shipping for a roll of XF/AU 2009-D Nickels on ebay, and I'm sure if I had a roll of circulated 2009-Ps to offer (I've found a total of just 99 examples in over 1.3 million nickels searched in 5+ years), I'd have no problem getting $40 + shipping for a similar XF/AU roll.

I have found only one 2009-D dime in the past 12 years, two 2009-P dimes.
No nickels ever, but the business strike finish on the nickel is very similar to the matte mint set finish of that year. Therefore I just plugged two mint set ones into my album.
