thanks scopru, Coinfrog and Dorado while waiting for some other CCF half thalers, here is another example from the same region, from the same century Charles II (1665-1700) became king of Spain and ruler of the Spanish Netherlands as a small kid. Below is a half ducaton of Flanders (minted in Brugge) with portrait type 1 (5 yr old). Charles died age 35 without an heir; this fact triggered the Spanish Succession War (1701-1724). half ducaton of Flanders, Brugge 1670, Delm. 330 extremely rare (R3). A pity of the weak portrait, perhaps the correct quality is F/VF, but it is quite hard to find the same coin with a better quality

for comparison with the half-ducaton: Below is the whole ducaton, Charles 2, 1670, FLANDERS (Bruges), Delm 327 (R1), silver ±32 g same ruler, same year, same city, same toning: nice twins - originating from the same collection

That is a very attractive 1/2 Konventionstaler, worldnumis! My catalog (A.K.S) says only 8000 we're minted (at Hannover).

@worldnumis: thanks for sharing an interesting coin; what is the meaning of XX? my guess would be 20 stuber, which would make sense for a gulden, but this is a mark
only three coins in this thread so far ..... are the German half thalers that rare?
