I'm surprised you didn't find this one appealing, Andrew. We've been in a few bidding wars against each other. and this example makes me

Thick skinned, not messed with original looking coin, what's not to like?

Eye appeal does still matter, that is very true! The coin doctors need to leave this one alone though. They won't improve the appearance and it will look like all the other cleaned white SLDs (I know you didn't suggest that Andrew but I'm just emphasizing the point as I've seen it stated numerous times on this forum.)

You might be on to something. I am tempted to "see" what it would look like in a 7070. Okay, I had to try it. This is not a solicitation, just daydreaming.

A bit too dark, the halo around the stars and the letters indicates recovery from an old, old cleaning, and the cabinet friction is from somebody putting it in a 7070 or something equivalent and not minding the plastic slide movement which is the whitening on the obverse only. I'm just not thrilled with it overall.

I have a number of Bust Halves with the same look, so it would fit in with my collection.

I personally dislike when coins have that lighter toning/wear on the high points. Overall the coin is great; hard to find them that original
