But if you want, continue to disparage what you don't understand.

I've perfectly understood your point, bobby. The original question was whether this coin was genuine since its price made me suspicious, found out it was.

I guess that to use ebay for advertising (marketing / price research?) is OK, provided that you pay ebay fees.

Morally you should pay a fee, if you take advantage of the service offered.

Nothing unscrupulous about it at all.
I in no way intended to accuse the seller of being unscrupulous, merely pointing out in reference to the ~$7,000,000 coin that they have a large number of big ticket items and seem to be shooting for the moon on many of them. If it works for them as a pricing strategy, go for it. They have another >million dollar item and several in the hundreds of thousands, so it appears that they indeed expect buyers to process amounts in that range through ebay. But who knows.

Please read my post, the seller does not expect that even remotely.

Here's my take on this guy. The seller most likely doesn't own ANY of the coins he's offering on ebay... what he does is list coins that other dealers own and are actually advertising on their websites at a lower price. He jacks his price up, so if you do purchase from him, he'll purchase the coin from the dealer, then turn around and ship it to the actual buyer. He's been doing this for several years now...

He also seems to think this is a 1795 off center variety dollar. it is not. This is the centered variety.

ebay is actually a good place to sell high value items as final value fees cap out at $750 while an auction commission does not.

Bingo!

super high price can also used to sell other items seller is offering since many of us sort search results by "highest to lowest" price and one would tend to look at $7,000,000 coin advertised.

It's a fishing scheme.

Yeah, I don't know what's going on with this seller but this 1915 PR66 LMC
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1915-1C-PC...AOSwSKtaen1x
is also listed on another site
https://www.apmex.com/product/13315...-66-PCGS-red
with what appear to be the exact same photos of the exact same coin. I just randomly picked a coin and searched for it, and found the first one I picked elsewhere, in about 30 seconds. Oh well, it's entertaining to speculate but I don't really care. Their "marketing strategy" ain't working on me.

Look the reason you post these things is so we can all be snarky and point out that for almost $7M I expect the blasted coin to be hand delivered by a chauffer in a tux, not $15 s/h...

I'm with Bobby on this one. I don't understand the point of posts like this. What difference does it make if the seller asks moon money for coins? I also don't see what you don't understand about the listing. He is obviously using the make an offer approach and getting publicity with the crazy prices.

Yes, and $250 if you have a store. Paypal fees don't cap though, something to consider. 3% can add up at high values.
