Thanx Dorado. I can see at one of the coinsites here in Norway, this coin is prized as high as $5000. My coin is not as nice, but I know it's worth a lot of money and collectors want it  Edited by Exibit

It's also damaged. Looks like two letters have been scratched into the obverse. If your coin is worth 5000 in better condition, it could be worth as little as $5 in the condition it is. All depends on total mintage, survival population count, and overall demand for lower grades.

Yes, I know. But the reason I'm made this topic is that there is someone who want to buy this for $700 no questions asked. Then I get both happy and worried, because I think it's worth much more. I think I'll take it to a coindealer to find out more. Thanks for all your help :)

@Exibit, for what it is worth, I see this coin listed in my 1999 Edition of Krause for $500 (US) in VF condition and $1000 in XF condition. As mentioned by @groszy, the graffiti on the obv is a concern and should negatively impact the value of an otherwise spectacular coin.

You will see here: https://www.coinarchives.com/w/resu...&results=100that two examples of the 1700 2 mark have sold recently at auction for 22,000 NOK, which is upwards of $2,500 US. Both of these are in better grade than yours (though the second one looks to have been cleaned rather badly), and the link to NGC shows the value dropping off steeply at lower grades. |

Nice tdziemia. Oslo Myntgalleri is the largest coindealer in Norway, they have many regualr and trusted customers who pay good money for their coins. I'm thinking about meeting them next week, they said they pay good money for the coin like the 2 mark I have, but they have to see it first of course. I also have a 4 mark from 1726 I want them to check, I'm pretty exited :)
But if you compare the coins in the link you posted, what do you think of my coin? Btw, I didn't think cleaned coins would go for that much money.

I am not a professional like some of the experts out here, just a hobbyist.
I'm also not familiar with the grading system that is used in Norway (1+, 1, etc.)
I think your coin would be graded lower than either of the coins in CoinArchives, AND there is the grafitti obverse, and a bit of rim damage reverse.
Personally I think it is a very attractive coin, and you can also think of the grafitti conferring some "character," but a purist would prefer a coin without this.
However, if the coin is scarce enough, you see that buyers will overlook some things like signs of cleaning, etc. just so they can have the coin.
If Oslo Myntgalleri auctions coins on a consignment basis, this might be an interesting way to go?

This Norwegian 2 mark is a fine/vf by the conservative Danish/Norwegian grading scale. It is grade 1(+) here. Even with the graffiti $700 is way too low a price. ! PalleRytter, DK

Wow, sounds great Prncoins, thanx. A few others I have asked here at home say the same as you and many collectors really want this coin in their collection. Can't wait for easter to be over to check it out, I'll keep you posted :)
