Yeah. The first thing that came to mind is that someone was grinding off the "d" and accidentally took off part of the 2 as well. OOPS! You need steady hands to effectively alter coins. :-P

I would be interested Zohar, but I'm sure your asking price would be way out of my league right now. I' guessing its a strong reverse? Maybe I should just save up again until I can afford a true die 2 strong reverse.

That whole date looks suspicious. Even the first "2" doesn't look right - it doesn't have the proper toning. And the 1 seems too short to my eyes compared to that 2.

I believe that coin is genuine and unaltered. Of course, I do not mean that it is a genuine 1922 no D or a 22D with the D removed but it probably is a genuine 1927 with a bit of counting wheel damage on the date. Someone has an overactive imagination and a bit of irrational exuberance

$10.49 for a possibly altered coin with green junk in the devices. I'd be better off spending that type of money at Burger King than wasting it on that misfit.

Up over $70 now, and it is NOT a 22.

There's definitely a ghost of something in the upper part of the second "2" that shouldn't be there... plus the angle of the lower bend isn't even close to that of the first 2. Points to the seller for the nice large pictures, but he shouldn't even be presenting it as a '22... i'd bet money it started out as a '28P, and somebody somewhere along the line tried to alter it to make a '22ND.

It certainly is not a 22-D. The last digit looks completely different than the two next door! -PP

I would pass any coin that looks as if it may have been altered, and this looks suspicious.

I wouldn't pay ten cents for that thing. Ok I would, but I sure wouldn't pay a dollar or anything more.
