The Carson City mint did not start operating until 1870.

It is obviously fake. The motto reverse did not begin until 1866.

I think we are being a little quick to judge and ignorant here. I bought a similarly graded 1864 CC from this seller, and the service was great. I was talking to my local dealer about it and he assured me I have a very rare pre-production specimen and it's worth the mint, literally. Would be a leading peice at a major auction should I ever put it up for sale; could easily fund med school for all the grandchildren with a few more years appreciation. I proudly keep it safe in my master bedroom closet, left hand side with my other rarities this seller has helped me source. I've thought about getting it certified, but I don't trust they have the knowledge with such a rare piece, and might mishandle it. Anyways, until you hold one of these great coins in person, don't condemn or mock it, please.

They are readily available in bulk on two well-known portals from our friends in Asia. These are the same friends who sell the equally rare 1886-CC and 1903-CC Morgans.
