I work with rolled steel. I see lamination all the time. I have never seen lamination with such straight or parallel edges.

And even if it was rolled onto the plate stock, it would have separated at the edge, popping off like a tiddly wink in the blanking process. Then in the production of coin, all that would remain after stamping pressure would be a slight divot. The metal moves to fill in those spaces on a planchet, even field, offset rims and details.

So what are you saying butch tell me about my coin. Since it isn't a lamination because under it looks like every other lam I have ever seen so need some help since all you are doing is saying this and that an I'm lost now how did this get on the coin and how was devices struck on it?

I think he is saying it is an unusual lamination that he has not seen before. It is the real deal. Note under the peeled area, you can see the waves of the metal.

Yeah that's what I was saying looks like all the Lams is the wavy metal.

I'm late to the game here. Don't know or really care what it is at this point but when I saw your "I bent it up" picture, it punched me in the gut!! Ouch!! I wish you had not done that. It reminded me of this:  Did you bend it back? If you did, it probably fell off. If not, it's getting ready to. Edited by USSID18

It's still good and in tact. In a 2x2  never fell off nor is it close I didn't bend it that far just far enough to show people what I was talking about. |

If it were heavier, then I would have thought a struck through debris. But being that it's under, then considering it a lamination issue. Leave it attached in that position. That shows it better that way in a 2x2. Nice find.
