@E&V thanks alot for your comments.
@Coop. That also bothers me too. I been trying to figure out why there wasn't a D mintmark on the cent. I couldn't see it with a 20X Magnify. Maybe, it's not there? Then, how can the cent from Philadelphia Mint got into the Denver Mint?

Thanks! Jasper62 for the comments and the link. The one on ebay does show the "D" Mintmark on the cent. I do agreed with you "Mint Assisted Error". I searched through Heritage, Great Collection, and Stack's Bowers past auction, but didn't find any that came from 2 different Mint, only difference year. |

Also the ERCA on shoulder and memorial on the bust strikes me ac odd? It seems like some items were added from a soft die on a legitimate off metal coin. Seems like a doubled strike would have erased these on the second strike? Just seems strange to me.   Edited by coop

I've been wondering how could it be possibly for the 2001 P cent to be in Denver mint when they struck the Nickel? If it 2000 cent then it possible. But same year difference mint? So, 2001 Cent was already out for circulation and somehow got to Denver in 2001 then the employee somehow made the error? Or like Coop said when it double struck it erased the mintmark?

This double-denomination error is certainly authentic. Whether the cent was minted in Philadelphia is less certain. There are a few double-denomination errors in which the two strikes were from different mints. Most of these are considered to be assisted errors. One can imagine a mischievous employee at the contractor that provides finished cent planchets to the Mint tossing in a struck coin. However, absence of a mintmark on the host coin doesn't necessarily mean the cent was struck in Philly. The mintmark could have been erased by the nickel strike. Or the mintmark could have been weak due to grease clogging the corresponding recess in the cent die. The area needs to be inspected under a microscope. If the host coin was truly missing the mintmark, then this error is worth well in excess of $1500. I'd guess anywhere between $3500 and $6000.

Yay, I'd inspected closely with a usb microscope. Fortunately, it does not have any indication of any (D) mintmark. Or maybe I might be wrong as it was a cheap usb microscope that I have?  . I hope I might have the (Dual Mint Double Denomination 6 Cent piece). I'm getting a little excited for this piece of my collection. (Gotta love Mint Error). |
