Quote: just got a call from tsc saying they do not have proactive plastic case for meteorite coin and offering a 20.00 discount "proactive plastic case"...what is that? I didn't get one. Are they saying that they don't have capsules for this coin?

No capsule? Trying to sell Bromberg's on-air demo coin....complete with fingerprints? Good decision to cancel the order. No chance anyone would want that even with the generous $20 discount. The C/A weekly scratch and dent sale shows that complete as issued is important in NCLT collecting. Missing packaging, scuffed or cracked capsules routinely mean 50% discounts.

@donaldo
How many coins did you cancel?
I have 6 coming to me and didn't receive a phone call. I hope I don't get one. I can't imagine that the mint would send coins without the capsules. So they are probably what CC-Ottawa has said. Demo coins. Nice try Steven.

Quote: Her exact words were plastic protective sleeve,missing. "Plastic protective sleeve" is strange definition for the capsule. Is this coin so special, so the CC&C / TSC will sell the "demo" coin without a capsule? I think, it standard protective sleeve, which covers the cardboard box. Package. It is not really plastic, but CSR easily might mistake. Well, this my assumption, but I think that's the case.

I truly believe that CC and C has a very special relationship with the RCM and those promo coins we see on the show are RCM supplied not for sale units or we would see them every so often being offered for sale of these open units. Just hard to believe packaging would be such an issue on this coin, it's a small piece of rock

She didn't say capsule, but "protective plastic sleeve." I can't imagine even Bromberg trying to sell this coin without a capsule.

Thanks for the info donaldo. Perhaps what they mean is the black sleeve over the clamshell box that houses the coin. Just a thought.

It seems that I've been seeing that if a case or packaging of a coin has something wrong that it devalues the price of the total product, which includes the coin. If all a person wanted was a coin without the packaging, there are some good deals out there when comparing to issue price. So now I wonder how long before the ebay sellers add a premium for these coins when it contains the full packaging?

Quote:So now I wonder how long before the ebay sellers add a premium for these coins when it contains the full packaging? Never, since supply outstrips demand for 98% of RCM NCLT coins. The vast majority of coins have full packaging. Potential buyers will simply skip coins that are missing packaging or have defects like scratched capsules and buy coins with full and non-defective packaging. As such, missing /defective packaging will always bring a discount while full packaging will never get a premium because they are the norm.
