Ahhhh.....you're right, but I'm certainly related to some !

And yeah my two 2006's are "Proof" as well.....as are my gold Eagles.....sadly I haven't "invested" in "old gold" as of yet.
But once I have the new St. Gaudens.......I'll probably have to get the old ones too !
I understand the appreciation for "old gold" and the disinterest in "new gold".......but IMHO.....they're awful purrrrty too !...

I'd only pick up a modern Saint if I can't get the 1907 high-relief.
Popular design + unlimited mintage + near 100% survival rate + never will be circulated = no rarity premium.

The rising price of gold over the last few years is offering really nice "short term" premiums on new Moderns (gold) !
Nobody should get into the "predicting game" long term with the gold market.....they'd be a fool indeed, but a lot of people say that it'll NEVER drop below a certain amount ever again and could keep climbing "long term" for a long long long time to come......there'd be small hills and valleys in between, but in 30, 50, and 75 year chunks.....ever rising. That's what I'm hoping for !
Regardless......I wish I could have bought a 1907 IN 1907 !.....NOW "THAT" WOULD BE A PREMIUM MY FRIEND !........
But that'd mean I'd be about 101 years old at least....

I don't collect the Buffaloes. Way too expensive for me now. If gold was to drop back to around $400 an ounce before next year, I could possibly get one of the new Saints

Hope your kidding there or my biker friends will be after you. Yes we are hillbillies and yes we collect coins. When sober that is.
Actually been collecting for well over 60 years.

Carl......
Mfhorn was referencing from a topic being discussed about guns and anti-gun laws and opinions. It's in the "General Discussion" area.

I bought two Buffalo Coins in 06 & 07. This year I managed to aquire 28 rolls of Liberty Walkers & 25 rolls of Franklns halves from a retired friend. After that purchase I will have to pass the Buffalo coins up for this year.

I'll answer a question that may be asked now. No, out of the 28 rolls there were no 1921 Walkers in there.

Hey Carl, Please don't take offense. I was in business with a 'Boy from Kentucky' for 20 years, and my son-in-law is part of the other reference. Both would give you the shirt off their backs, and are as honest as the day is long.

Mfhorn...

I was just curious.......how did this reference to "redneck" or "hillbilly" come up in the first place with me anyway ?

If it was the "gun debate" in the "GD" section......I was only defending them !....I didn't mean to imply that I was representing one ! Ha Ha
And I know you were just "funnin'" anyway.....no offense taken by me at least.
Plus, anyway, Jeff Foxworthy said it best when he explained that the word "Redneck" is NOT a bad word !....It's an endearing term that is often humorous and never should offense be taken at it's use.
I have both in my family too.......and some friends that could be considered Hillbilly's and/or Rednecks.....
Now.....I hunt.....I fish......I camp.....I hike.....I live in Kansas.....but I know an Internal Medicine Doctor Who does those things ! (my Bro-in-law) ...
I don't wear cowboy boots
I don't use chewing tobacco
I don't wear a cowboy hat
I've never owned a giant belt buckle in my life !

Mfhorn......Man ! I'm searching to wonder where you got this idea that I considered myself a Redneck or a Hillbilly.....(not that there's anything wrong with that and I luv em' both immensely ! )

Thanks for mentioning the "fractionals" Shatsi !.......I had forgotten about those.....lower denominations will make the affordability factor interesting for many to consider......

Definitely, that's my only hope. I no longer can afford the 1oz so I'm thinking 1/4oz proof, size of the Buffalo nickel.
