Always like seeing the vignettes, such artistry...lacking in today's print world. Well, one thing's for sure, they are indeed worthless, even says so:

Yes the Tucker stock is definitely a nice collector item - those retail in the $100 to $200 range.
And GM stock is hardly worthless! It's currently trading around $39 per share. Those both appear to be uncancelled "live" certificates. If you are the direct inheriter, you are looking at nearly $25,000 in value! You need to check with GM stockholder services and make sure these are valid (lost certificates were often re-issued) and what the process is to change ownership after inheriting.
Let us know how it turns out!

But that stock is for the original GM, which effectively ceased to exist in 2009. The current GM is not the same after the bankruptcy and liquidation. I believe that stock is indeed worthless.

Believe it or not, I actually did a little research before I commented , and yes, pre-bankruptcy GM stock is worthless. It's a shame, but true. I would like to think the paper itself is worth something, but I highly doubt there is a shortage of them.

I would also research the signatures, these guys sometimes went on to do other things and correlating them can sometimes add some collectible value.

I picked this one up for $20 -- note the original denomination. Actually it's not a fair comparison, since mine is a cancelled bond. But I regularly see GM stock certificates selling in the $5 to $10 range on ebay. Given the background on the liquidation, the Tucker certificate is probably the best of the bunch.

Very nice! I really like that Tucker certificate.
Don't have any certificates myself, but we did inherit 350 shares of Daimler Chrysler stock from my father back in 2006. Been sitting on em for years. Haven't checked their value in quite a while.

Haven't checked their value in quite a while. I would investigate their value. They may need to be converted to have any real value, depending on when they were purchased. Chrysler was all up in the bailout, too, and filed for bankruptcy. I haven't found anything about the value of their older stocks, though.

If you keep cashing the dividend checks the stock is not worthless and will not be escheated. I've got a single framed share of that GM stock. Not interested in selling it as it still makes good art and a lesson in how any company can fail.

Loving the artistry across all of these - frustrating to hear about the "old" and "new" GM causing a total loss of stock value. Thanks for sharing!
