Sounds interesting. I will definitely window shop just to see what is available, but who knows if I will actually buy something there (it was years before I bought anything on ebay). I will be optimistic though. The hobby needs a good win.

I saw the sellers fees, but are there buyers fees? That would be a turn-off, like the big auction houses.

Quote: Like it worked out when Amos ran a grading company? Actually ANACS was pretty well respected when it was owned and run by Amos.

FYI... I just got the email that this is up and running... https://www.coinworld.marketWas perusing some 1926-S cents for fun, and my MS64 BN one looks more red than some of the coins up for sale that grade either MS 63 or MS 64 RB.

Thanks for the update. The site looks pretty good but so many coins are miscategorized (there's a bust half dollar among the Half Cents; their "gold dollars" section includes the incuse and $10 Indian designs). Didn't do a price comparison but the inventory looks pretty broad already. I've bookmarked it for later reference.

Definitely excited to see how it will do. I was wondering when it was going to get up and running.

Only five dealers right now so it has plenty of room to grow. I had fun looking around though. I see potential.

Do you have to be logged in to see completed sales to see how much is actually selling there or did they leave that feature off the site? Unless I'm missing something I don't see that option anywhere

The marketplace just launched -- they wouldn't have any completed sales unless something happened since the last time I looked, when this thread started. Did I miss something?

Just after a quick glance, I don't much care for the limited ways to filter out things (one thing about ebay I actually like). I'd rather not search just by metal type but actually want to see all coins, but I don't see any "see all" option. And if I search for something like "half dollar", it would be nice to have more to filter than just year and grade. Still will keep this in mind though.

Again, potential. The certainly can evolve just as ebay has.

ebay dominates (almost a monopoly) because of 4 big fat fundamental reasons staring us all right in the face. None of which (I don't think) have been touched upon in this thread. This is why all the start-ups and potential challengers ultimately fail. They actually failed prior to launch. We should actually give them all the support, and our business, as possible. This does not mean ebay is the end all forever and ever. Quite the opposite. The faster ebay grows/dominates numismatics and continues ever faster towards their goal of numismatic monopoly WE get that much closer to a new paradigm. This doesn't mean a coin will never be bought and/or sold on ebay ever again just that ebay's market position in numismatics will be dramtically diminished. - Honey Badger
