It's a fun thing, but as a whole or broken up, it's just not worth much either way.

yes, these are after market , highly publicized sets sold purely for profit, for the company that originally sold them.. they are worth a little more than melt, but most of the coins have been cleaned, wiped, or dipped; for eye appeal. they wanted the coins shiny to entice people to buy the sets..
They did the same thing, with half dollars, cents, nickels, etc...

Quote: Vote away! I'd crack open that plastic tomb and slip these dimes into 2x2s. It saves space and these coins really don't have any specific attachment to one other. My Two Cents...

Actually one could interpret the wording on the plastic case as fraudulent -- "collectible condition" does not really apply to harshly cleaned common mercs.

Let them stay unless you want to put them into an album.

How does that picture relate to those tired dimes.
I don't get it.
At least they're guaranteed.

Leave them as is. Sort of a novelty to show people.

Quote: Coins are marginal. The case adds a bit of spice. I agree. Leave it as is. It is an interesting set. Any holes you have in your set could be filled with equal or better examples obtained raw.

I see 1923, 25, 26, 28, and 29 dimes all from Philadelphia. It would cost pretty close to $125 to have them graded. They would all have to come back as MS to break even and none of these are close to MS. So obviously it would not be worth doing.
