I would not call that X graffiti in terms of graffiti detailing an otherwise problem-free coin. If that makes any sense.
Can we see the reverse?

Maybe an old chop mark to make sure it was solid silver? Does that make any sense?

AS much as I hate to call it problem free, I bet the X, and the scratch on the bust are barely visible in hand. I think the very original surfaces also make up for it. Not sure how it CAC'd though but hey, buy the coin not the slab.

The adjustment marks on the reverse, while acceptable, are also causing me to be apprehensive about purchasing this coin when I consider the obverse marks. That is a sweet looking coin and not close to a "Details" piece. Most collectors would love to own such a coin but few have the spare cash such a purchase would entail.
P.S. It looks like a $10,000 coin.

Love it. To me, this has an Eye Appeal of 8 or 9, issues aside.

I had to enlarge the image to find the x, I doubt that you would see it in hand without magnification.
That said, I have learned over the years that if something about a coin bothers you, it always will. It will be the first thing you see every time you look at it.
Shame, because it truly is a beautiful piece, but.....
I'm not a fan of the adjustment marks on the reverse either, regardless if they are acceptable or not.
For that kind of money, I don't want any 'buts'.

Ultimately, I have to agree with Hadleydog. I really love this coin, and was prepared to purchase it, but the obverse mark, intentional or not, is going to bother me. This coin will likely approach five figures when it sells, and I can't live with any "buts".
Thanks for all the comments. I was pleased to see how many agreed with me as to eye appeal. It makes walking away from it even harder, however.

it's a nice coin, but it has graffiti on it. speaks poorly of the grading service that let it go.
