I made a side by side and I remembered afterwards seeing the same subject come up before.

It issue is that the die was polished and it reduced part of the devices on the middle wear level to remove a die clash on that side of the head. This isolated polishing reduced the size of the left side of the ear and the lobe part was further away from the die clash. But when you look at a normal ear, then you can see the reduction of the ears devices. Size of ear and lines on that area are weaker.

I hope it turns out to be a DDO! That's an interesting find.

Tanman2001, he's too sick right now to do attributions. He's unfortunately battling with Parkinson's disease.

Just got this one back from Dr. Wiles

2000-D WDDO-001 is "Not a DDO. Overlays suggest that the 'secondary image' is within the lobe design. I suspect it as an incidental hit. I would need a second specimen to confirm it is a DDO, even then I would probably consider it too minor to list." -James Wiles

My apologies.
I was was merely providing a relevant specimen to assist in the verification of Tanman's 2000-d LMC.
He said, "I would need a second specimen to confirm it is a DDO."
No harm intended. Just trying to help.

Best regards,
Chad

Really happy to see others looking for this one.

I would like to see closer pics of the ear on your coin, hard to tell with the photo given if it's a match. If you spot any die markers on your coin, I can check my example to see if they match.

You should make your own thread as Chase recommended. You can always PM me if you'd like me to check out a thread.

I've come across so many with the earlobe like this! Guess I better start digging them out of my "normal" change pile! Lol. I figured it was just a MD.

My current means of imaging coins is inadequate.
This Monday I will have better optics, you will find clinical pics, and I hope they some a purpose...lol
Until then, Green Grass and High Tides Forever.
Best regards,
Chad
