I ordered the 1/4oz proof. And might get the 1/4oz UNC down the road if I have the funds. I agree the premium is too much but I like the design.

I buy a one ounce proof each year, but dadgum I paid $899.00 last year for the one ounce proof and though it was allot and this year they were $1,199.95 , if it keeps this trend up I won't be able to afford them much longer

Yeh the buff is nice but IMO I would have sumthing that has "historical" value. Like collecting the presidentials, they actually happened. Unlike a buffalo wich had its design on the nickels might be different but a buffalo is abuffalo no matter how its formed :P

I like the coin, but if I'm buying gold, which I have none of yet, it's not going to be modern. I'd much rather buy a nice coin or 3 for my 7070, than an overpriced piece of bullion.

My order for a proof 1/10 ounce is on my way to me as well as a proof 1/10 American Eagle gold coin. These make up my first purchase of gold coins.

I went to check the status of my order and it says canceled! Weird. Now the 1/4oz are backordered and who know when I can get mine. Oh well.

that is no good. Why put something on sale if it is going to be backordered or canceled. The us mint says "To ensure that all members of the public have fair and equal access to United States Mint products, any order placed prior to the official on-sale date and time (July 22, 2008, 12:00 Noon ET) shall not be deemed accepted by the United States Mint and will not be honored." I know you said you ordered after it went on sale on the first day right? Maybe they should instead say"To ensure that all members of the public have fair and equal access to United States Mint products, any order placed prior to or within the first week of the official on-sale date and time (July 22, 2008, 12:00 Noon ET) shall not be deemed accepted by the United States Mint and will not be honored.
