See those all the time on ebay trying to be sold as genuine. There are at least a couple every week reported on our counterfeit forum. At least they are easy to spot. |

Yep, altered 1944-D. Space between the 9 and 1 is too wide.

Might be nice to try and put together a collection of altered 1944-Ds -----> 1914-Ds. Of course I do not think any seller will let their "1914-D" go for a the price of a 1944-D.

I broke the news. He suspected since Day 1, so he wasn't particularly crushed. He got a "good deal" on it on ebay, so it was an acceptable risk to him. He's keeping it as a hole filler for now. |
