Since I'm not a big fan of slabs, the only kind I have were "Silly Cheap". Paid $58 ($8.29 each) for these. And somewhere around here I have a NGC Pr68 1957 Franklin I got for $4.99.

Here's one I got slabbed last year because I thought it was a Type II. Guess my eyes aren't that good... At least it didn't cost me much during one of the ANACS specials.

, you'll probably even sell them for a profit.

This one was a head-scratcher. Cost to slab: probably over 20 bucks at NGC Price I paid: $8 (with free shipping!!) Funny thing is, it's actually undergraded -- much closer to a G6 -- making it even more of an oddball. It's not even a key date or semi-key date!

I don't think it gets much sillier than this one. I actually had this one submitted myself, because I THOUGHT I found doubling on the reverse. I got it back with a note stating the "doubling" was from die wear......ah well, live and learn.

That's a good example, AcesKings. Ever thought of cracking it out to spend it?

The holder is much more valuable than the coin ;)

Quote: Ever thought of cracking it out to spend it? No I haven't. I guess I just keep it around as a reminder I was a newbee at one time too. Quote: The holder is much more valuable than the coin ;) A few years ago I actually got offered $5 for it from someone who collects the original ANA holders. I said I'd send it to them for the cost of shipping. But, I'd never shipped anything, so kept asking the best way to ship. I guess they got tired of my questions and just stopped asking about it.

I must be truly an oddball out here.
I've never submitted, and I own only 3 slabbed coins.

I've never submitted, and I own only 3 slabbed coins. Not really. I've never submitted any either. I only have 9 myself (7 Ikes in one purchase & the other 2 were silver I got below melt). All were very cheap.
