MS-62. I'd submit this one to a TPG due to how many fake Trade dollars I see for sale out there.

MS-61, fields look a bit banged up.

Closing the loop. This one came back Unc - Details Cleaned.

I'm disappointed, because I really did not think it was cleaned, but I think it is evident in the Truview image.Link to the Truview here.

sure looks different in the truview. it looks like the obverse was wiped and lacks luster. but I've seen much worse than this in a straight holder. nice coin nevertheless.

High resolution coin photography is a double-edged sword.

Nice coin. Looking at the True View photo, I agree with the grade.

I think it looks a lot more cleaned in your photos than in the trueview

Oh man that still is a nice coin. I can see some evidence of light cleaning in the trueview.

I think your photos make it look cleaned. The trueview makes it look nicer in my opinion. Looks to have nice luster; especially the reverse.

Okay, so another update. I got a Cherrypicker's Guide and started looking at some coins. This one turns out to be an FS-802. It is pretty apparent once you see it, so I'm kind of surprised I didn't notice before. If I had known, I would have paid extra to have it attributed.

IMO that would be a Trade dollar I would buy regardless of the Details designation. As for attribution, just add it on your next PCGS submission as an extra service.

It seems these are relatively common, maybe 1 in a dozen. PCGS Coinfacts has 44 images of the 1877 S regular strike (link here), so I decided to scroll through those. I saw three of the FS802 DDR variety and three of the FS301 RPD variety that I assume were not attributed since they are listed under the regular strike.
