Early proofs like to tone purple for some reason:

One of my 53's has some thin, reddish toning...the surfaces look like liquid! One of my favorite coins:

Hey.... total long shot but is there any chance that the 1953 could be fire sale? I'm working on a date set of proof wheaties. Thank you so much.

No. I'm working on a colorful pegs proof set 1950 - 1959. Somewhere recent in the modern coin forum like a month ago I showed a 1954 or a 1958 and then I show them all within one of the two posts.

Beautiful color. Don't have one like that in my collection. Love seeing toned Lincoln's!

@hullamania. My really nice toned Lincolns from the 1950s I got from ebay auctions from a guy with the handle name greattoning. He has weekly auction which end usually on sundays. I always try to peak and see if he has any Lincoln cents that grab my attention. Sometimes other things he has up for auctions do, but I like to check if he has any toned Lincolns for me there. He seems to get some nice ones on consignment frequently.

I really don't like toning but these shown here are sort of interesting and sure do have toning.
