I enjoy seeing these ancient artifacts even though they are not coin related I allow them. Hope it's OK with the forum staff.

Thanks jskirwin. Yea I have this pottery and one more pottery from 1800 BC which I bought from a dealer in Israel that one is from Canaanites. I also have a Amlash Short sword which is 1500 BC but beside these all others are coins. This Chinese Yangshao pottery I got from a dealer in England what impressed me and to be honest was the reason I got this was that it came with a certificate of lab TL tests on it from Oxford Labs which proved it is authentic and from 2500 BC.

Ron,

Wow, that is a great looking group. It sure would be a lot of fun trying to attribute those.

Great pile of ancient silver Ron!
Really interesting project you've got there...How is it going?

Lovely little Uttama Chola coin that was a good find! I'm still searching for one!

My top three for 2018 include a Cistrophorus Tetradrachm from Mysia, a Half-Siliqua from the Byzantine Empire, and a 1467-dated Horngroschen from the German Landgraviate of Hesse. I picked the first one for this thread because it is part of my effort to move deeper into Greek coins and this guy is just a giant puck of silver. The second one is part of my effort to build up my coin collection from the 400s and 500s AD as this has been an area of persistent weakness for me. Finally, the third coin was just about the only early dated coin that I bought this year. These things are getting wicked hard to find.

I didn't get that many pre-1600 coins in 2018, so I can really show only 8 acceptable ones:

If anyone is interested, the filenames for the photos should identify each coin. (This is just a display of the 16 image files herded into a single Windows folder.)

@pepactonius, I figure about 2100 years' coverage in those 2018 acquisitions. Wow!

Of course I am especially fond of that Gdansk groschen

It's too bad this thread is on the Medieval/Ancients subforum. If this thread were in the "Main Coin Forum", the top 10 2018 acquisitions would span 2500+ years. I think only about 3-4 coins from this post would make it into the top 10 for 2018 (certainly the 1478 spitzgroschen, the early 1/24 stater, and probably the quadriga denarius). The top coin for 2018 would have to be the 2018 US 1oz palladium coin.

Not really I wanted to see ancients! Maybe you can start a new thread on the main forum?
