It was so obvious the doors just swing forward if you try to shut them (without locking). My mail was in my slot so I pick it up. Yes, I was expecting some banknotes and looks like nothing was stolen this time.
BTW there is no phone number for Canada Post that you can call. Checked online. Perhaps they expect people to send them a letter.
I called the local post office at Shoppers where they leave larger parcels. No one picked up the phone as always but I left a message with the location of the super mail box. Will update this tomorrow if the box has been closed or not.

Incredible.
I live a bit north of Toronto. I would have contacted the local shoppers as well. Not sure who you're actually suppose to call.

Yup. Seen it before, not even in my neighborhood. Could have made off with it all if you were a crook. Would you feel better with a PO box, or, would it get left open too? Good old CP.

The box doors are now closed.
One can only hope that it won't happen again so that my Canadian Coins that I order by mail don't get stolen because of CP's carelessness.

good luck on getting any sort of communication with Canada post.
I have been, and my neighbors have been observing mismailed items for a couple years;
I have always gone the extra mile to physically drive to the address on the lettermail that has been mistakenly placed in my box, but last year I had solid confirmation of mail still getting mismailed, when letters/packages not getting to me;
One was a birthday card with a gift from my mother in law;
Nearly a year later, it still has not arrived here, or back at my mother in laws - so someone else in my neighborhood received, opened and kept it.
I found out last year that I cannot call Canada post, and I cannot email Canada Post... the only way I could see to get ahold of them was via facebook message - how lame is that!?
I never did receive a reply.
I have virtually no faith in Canada post except for tracked packages.
It's my opinion that they better pick up their game or they are going to sink.

This is so common it's scary. Best to call the post office responsible for these boxes directly, they will send someone out to close them right away. I would also call the 1-800 number and complain, this will go directly to the supervisor responsible who has to follow up with the complaint.
Bad enough having to worry about things like coins being stolen but even worse to think that someone could getting a credit card using your personal info.

My delivery person at my last house did a fantastic job. My RCM packages were often delivered by hand if I was outside in my yard as I often was, even though I have a box like in the original post. The mailman knew the RCM boxes by their appearance, and said he knew of several others in my area that also received them regularly. He joked that the mailman always knows who has a huge loot of coins. I once got distracted by my kid and walked off with my keychain in the mailbox door. Before I had a chance to notice, my mailman was ringing my doorbell to return the keys as well as hand delivery yet another coin I had ordered. He joked that now he not only knows I have coins but also the keys to my house. I suppose with a shady delivery guy, or a passerby that noticed my keys, my foolish mistake could have costed me more than an embarrassingly red face. |

My experiences with Canada Post the past few years have been poor. They've haven't lost a package within that time, but things are taking longer and longer to arrive. Also, we never seem to get mail 5 days a week anymore - it seems to be 3 at the most. When the weather's bad we get nothing. I thought there was a motto "neither rain, sleet or snow, etc." I can understand in extreme weather their not going out, but not when there's barely a trace.
It's a joke now.
