I received the coin today.

I got a low COA (love you CC&C). And the coin looks flawless.

The quality of this coin is so much better than the 1943 Half-Dollar (also sold at Walmart last year).

Good question. I took a photo of last year's 1943 half dollar:

Yes I see
I've come to recognize (as others have I'm sure) how challenging it is to lay on that gold enhancement on intricate details -

@YesOrNo: Is that missing gold plating that you've highlighted inherent in all production of that specific coin? Or is it just a few coins and you've decided to keep it nonetheless?

@quasarito, I only purchased one 1943-2018 half dollar coin. I didn't see other coins. My conclusion was solely based on the single coin I received.

@YesOrNo I checked my copy of this coin and while I have some missing plating, it is nowhere near as obvious as yours; I had to get the loupe out to confirm there was a bare patch; it wasn't noticeable from a straight visual inspection without magnification.

@vonigohcr Good for you! I was not lucky enough to get a good coin.

I guess this kind of gold plating was manually applied by human. Because it took lots of efforts to miss two spots, so badly.

Any particular reason you decided to keep it instead of getting a replacement?

There was no guarantee the replacement would be better. Because the quality of RCM silver coins, at least in 2018, was generally poor.

As a result, I didn't purchase the subsequent National War Memorial coin.

Have not seen it at any show but found it at Geoffrey Bell Auctions.

Managed to secure one for the Waterloo Coin Society's 60th Anniversary as a special year end celebration draw.
