@ikuna, if you use the search functionality on CCf with the keywords BRONZE DISEASE, you will find many threads over in the ancients section of CCF. Mostly we point folks here: http://kevinscoins.ancients.info/BD...Disease.htmlWith that said, I'm not 100% that you should pursue this same pathway with your modern coin. Perhaps start with VerdiCare? I'm interested to see what other's think about this.

I was told to soak it in Distill Water. I have and it is clearing up nicely.

I'd leave it alone. If you do the wrong thing, you could seriously reduce the value for the error. At least with the patina on the coin, it shows it was not altered. Turn the coin a different color, will turn a buyer away.

Just leave it alone and don't mess with it. Nice find by the way! Finally, a real error coin.

Thanks for all the advice and comments. I took it out the Distill Water and the green stuff fell of some but the coin remains the same color. I have a question and really need to be guided on this. I am from Trinidad and Tobago and I am not familiar with the laws in the US with respect to their coins and notes as per selling them as a numismatic hobbyist. Can I sell and buy on a one and one basis person to person and work out things privately ? What relevant laws covers this situation ? I feel isolated here where I can't even get an appraisal if needed.

Do you have ebay where you are at? People buy and sell U.S. coins all the time here on ebay.

Ask them to see. But here well sell all coins US or world. So it is a good question to ask the ones in your country on ebay.

Good morning guys. Collecting coins for me is exciting based on the possibility that something rare and valuable could be found. When this happens, I think that it is only understandable that one would like to have an idea as to the extent of rarity and value of such item. I am not asking anyone to bid for this coin since I believe that this forum is not the place for this, but definitely based on the experience and knowledge of members, I am sure that someone can give me an idea as to what might be a reasonable price for me to sell this Error Penny for. I know that any figure given would be subjective to that individual and not necessarily factual per say, nevertheless I crave the indulgence of this group.

It would probably be best to determine what the market is by doing a search on ebay to see what the market is. Dates, coin condition and desirability would need to consider this before trying to sell. On ebay the follow features would allow you to find examples, check results and see the market. Pricing can have a lot of variables. The exact match would probably be hard, but a ballpark figure could be determined with several auctions watched.
