OK, how about this one:

When I separated from my wife, I took most of my coins on the day I moved out. The one thing I couldn't take was a huge jar of Lincoln Cents I had been saving for nearly 20 years. These were all copper cents since I was saving them for bullion. There was over 200 pounds of cents in the jar. When I went back a few weeks later to get the rest of the stuff, the jar was gone. Apparently, she had poured them all into CoinStar. I still wonder what sort of varieties were there since this was before I looked for such things. Stupid not to take them when I first left considering how she did love to spend money!

Doh! Well, glad you made it out of there with the important stuff. That stuff might have wound up in the same coinstar.
Check out my counterstamped Lincoln Cent collection:

Not on par with your story, but when I was a young collector is when they quit making coins from silver. Unfortunately, we were not rich (closer to poor than rich) and we didn't just save each and every silver coin. We should have, but didn't predict that silver would increase in price (after not significantly increasing in price for hundreds of years).

Nss, I wish I had thought other things too. I got $300 in face 90% at the bank and never cherrypicked it or looked for key dates. Another huge regret in my life. However the $1400 went towards my future car so worth it I guess

Grape love that you shared the story. Can't say I feel better because you bought Pepsi , couldn't of got a Dr Pepper ..
And sometimes we'd kill for caffeine.
But if I ever find a Cheerios dollar it's all yours ! As long as you don't spend it on Pepsi
