Sorry, this website isn't allowing me to post a photo right now. I'm not that good with computers, so if it doesn't happen easily, it doesn't happen. I will try again.

I think I got it!! Finally! This should be a photo of what should be the date on a Washington quarter. Any ideas anyone!

get the Irfanview download off of this website.
then got to image tab resize/resample then make the pic under the required size

Worn.....or taken off by some other means.....I'd say.
Grease Filled Die ?......hmmmmm....dunno about that.
I'm guessing that it isn't a "Mint error" in that sense.....IMHO
But definately will be watching this thread for other comments....

From the pitting that is visable I'm guessing it was taken off with some type of acid .

......that seemed like an obvious "spot" for the pitting to be located to me too !

could be acid due to that pitting.
Of course, one might expect acid to also attack metal hardnesses at different rates--and not altogether remove a date flush to the fields
If I were to guess, I'd say filled die with some post-mint damage thrown in.
