You might be sorting coins by candle light!
One of the reasons that coin collecting is such a great hobby is that one does not need the modern conveniences to enjoy it!

Enjoy your time, TimJing! And when you are done with Fay, send some of that rain up my way!

Hopefully your power didn't go out. Sorting coins in the heat = yuck.

We're still waiting for her to visit us up here.

Storm actually missed us entirely... I'm in the Tampa Bay area. Still going through those nickels

And, Eaglefoot, I'm picking up a thousand in halves later

I'm about half way between Tampa and Fort Myers. No action here whatsoever, not even rain. At least I got a day off from school. -PP

G'day, where I live, in the Tropical part of Australia, we get cyclones, not at this time of year, of course.
When everything shuts down, but while the electricity is still flowing, there are a variety of ways to pass the time. Cooking all of one's uncooked food is high on the list, of course.
For many, trying to relax with a few of your favourite movies is a distraction. The shops that rent out videos, DVDs, etc, always get de-stocked very early after an alert is published. They have a saying about big storms:
"The wetter, the better".
Anyway, glad to hear that your time passed in a pleasantly uneventful fashion.

......right on !

I live in what they call "Tornado Alley"......and I don't think, if I was taking cover, that I'd be sorting ANYTHING while waiting out one of "our" storms !........too busy hanging on to the plumbing or riding around in the bathtub !....

AS usual the weather people blew it. Too bad in a way. You could have tested the ability of coins to float.

Nailed me here in west palm beach. Tree's down, tornado, and lots of rain. Kids playing with raft's floating down the street.

Two summers ago, when we had some decent flood waters in the middle of town......we saw a Mercedes floating down the street amongst other vehicles and things, but there was something poignant about that sight........

Boy, I sure don't miss living down there any more. I used to live on the very tip of georgia and it never failed, the hurricane would make some miraculous move and go right over where we lived. On the up-side though, we got a lot of hurricane days.We don't have too many of those up here in NC.

We used to live about 3 or 4 miles from a military base in GA, and I remember this one storm made a pretty bad tornado (F3 I think) and when we left hiding the next day, we went out into our backyard to find about 45 beach lounge chairs and various umbrellas. You should have heard the military officials when we told them that they needed to come pick up that much of there pool equipment.
