No Nerd here. Where I grew up it was not smart to mention you had anything of value of any kind at home. Therefore I never mentioned collecting coins or anything. One really good friend used to like to brag about having coins. They were all stolen.
No Nerd here, just a great secret keeper.

G'day,
I recently saw a quote from Bill GATES, directed to a group of children on the verge of finishing school. He included the advice:
"learn to be nice to nerds: chances are, you'll end up employed by one."

Certainly no nerd here. I was also more of the biker type most of my life. After reading this I'm wondering if there is a connection to bikers and coins! My only problem now is I wish I would not lived as hard as I did the first 45 years or so. I'm paying for it big time now.(I don't think I would change a thing though as I had a blast living it) At least now, all crippled up, I still collect and enjoy my coinsMike

^^^ "Life is not intended to be a journey to the end arriving in a well-kept
perfectly maintained body, but rather to skid in sideways, worn out, used
up, loudly proclaiming "WOW! What a ride!"

NO NERD here either... I never told anyone about my coins at home. My uncle got me into coins. I'm still collecting, now it is currency though, but still have the original penny collection he helped me start.

My uncle? He owns one of the best coin shops in Dallas TX.

Never was a nerd........though at times, I suppose, I traveled back and forth !
I always tried to be friends with everyone......went to a very small school, (39 people in our Senior Class) so it was easy.
I was always into sports...played sports throughout all years of school.....still watch......hunting, fishing, camping, canoeing, hiking, Rendezvous, target shooting, very outdoorsy....
..And have a good friend who's a biker from a "biker family" and used to go to a lot of rallies and biker events with them !!....

I'm a nerd in my own opinion,
and only my close friends know I'm a nerd.

If you just saw me you would think I was just a jock,
but I hate sports.

Eh, well I'm sort of a history and an art nerd. And those two led me to the love of coins. SO I guess I'm a composite nerd.

But in all honesty no one by looking at me would think that I'm a numismatist. In fact, most dealers tend to refuse to believe that I am, and then they are amazed to see that I am actually quite knowledgable.

Kids are always brutal to anyone who is not the same as they are. If you notice though, it is often the 'nerd' that comes back to the reunions with a hot wife, and a nice car.

My wife thinks I am more of a nerd for being on a coin forum, than for actually collecting coins. And since I have been in construction for 15 years now, and a gym instructor before that, I don't consider myself a nerd. Just passionate about coins.
