Interesting! Possibly just another way for a company to make money grading coins without actually having to grade them? "The best of the best of the best" Thanks for the help!

Everyone is trying to make money. Buy the coin. I agree, this sticker means nothing. What's next?

It means the coin actually meets the grade on the holder, and is backed by someone willing to part with their own money. While half a bust is right, if the TPG services graded correctly, that advice would be unnecessary. Since they don't, I don't understand why they grade coins at all. |

To which I would add two general observations:
fools and their money are soon parted; and
the categories of roguery are never closed.
I've not heard of this species of parasite before, so I'm grateful to my friends on CCF for adding to my education.

It's all about money - making money. I do not care for the cac sticker at all. I believe TPG are ok. You still decide if it meets the grade before you buy the coin i.e., if you buy sight seen. A fictitious story... I believe a raw coin at a show or dealer is a bu 67 the seller is selling as a bu 65. I buy the coin at a bu65 price. I believe there is money to made. I decide to submit to PCGS it comes back bu66 I now have a coin worth more than what I bought it for and have it "backed up" by PCGS the third party grading co. I sell the coin and make a profit. All is good. Now the new buyer believes this coin is exceptional and wants to have what I truly believe should be considered a fouth grading party. The only one out there to do this as of now is "cac". The owner of said coin sends it in to cac to get certified. He does and now he can sell this coin for more than what he bought it for. And so it goes. Unfortunately, more likely than not this too will catch on with more buyers and sellers. While I am all for someone making a buck this to me seems absolutely absurd! I'm considering starting AAGC Absolutely Agree Grade Cerification. What do you think? |

I've reconsidered my earlier cynicism. I'll leave it to PTB to put his stickers wherever he's paid to.
I've just, as of now, set up the IUIAFPG: Intergalactic, Universal, & International Association of Fourth-Party Graders.
For a large (or negotiable) fee, all you fourth-party sticker-stickers can say that you have been admitted as Fellows of IUIAFPG.
What a wonderful world we live in ...

At least I have not seen any stickers by Rick Snow that drive a graded coin higher than it's TPG price the way the CAC sticker does. Who is Rick Snow? Maybe he should use an acronym for a name and some great marketing and off he goes. Quote:

Rick Snow calls it PhotoSeal. It's his own "seal of approval" for his specialty, Fly Eagle and Indian Head cents. |

Interesting and curious.. Does his photo seal bring a premium to the coins? Does the "seal" attach to the coin holder or is it seperate? Will he seal non TPG coins - raw coins and place in holder himself? Easier yet does he have a web site you could post? |
