I was thinking KK as well, but the W just looks too close to the A on this coin.

I'm still coming up with KK. I can't tell if it is JJ or not because I don't have an image of JJ.

It can't be X because the W is way too far left/
On R the A in ARE is noticeably smaller and that doesn't seem to be the case on the OP coin.
N is out because it has a lot of space between the words WE ARE ONE and the OP coin is not like that.
On KK the words are close together as they are on the OP coin.

I think it is KK or JJ and either one is a win 13JJ is an R-8 and 13KK is R-7.

Do you think it's worth Sending to NGC for attribution and grading?
(Can't be JJ as that is "United States" this coin is "States United"

Conder really, really knows his stuff, but I am still stuck on R. Looking at how the A and T in STATES line up with the O in ONE, I just can't make KK work. I am going to keep searching for images of other examples in different die states, may make a difference. I would hold off on sending it off for now, we may hash it out yet.

I see what you mean about the position of the T to the O. That does seem to eliminate KK. I still have a problem with R though. The A in ARE still appears to be small on R and the distance from the top of the A to the W above it loots to be significantly more on R than on the OP coin.

I've got it bouncing around one of the colonial collectors groups. Should have a definitive answer shortly. I'd be more confident if it was a Connecticut!

Well I haven't gotten as much input as I had hoped. One person thought 24-MM but that was quickly shot down. Mike Packard thought it was 13-R and those were the only opinions. Will let you know if I hear anything else.

That is a nice looking, original Fugio. Not so much an expert on these as most my knowledge lies with the Colonial coins of Vermont and the Wood's Hibernia's.

I agree with the grade but details? I'm guessing code 98?

I have a PCGS graded Vermont copper with a huge deep scratch on it and they gave it a problem free F12. Sometimes I don't get TPG's.
Grade the coin, not the slab.

What a find over seas! Nice piece of history for 10 euros? I'd buy as many as I had money for at that price. Wozzers!

And to top it off, I just finished reading my favorite book of the past year. "Abel Buell and the History of the Connecticut and Fugio Coinage" you can find my review on it in the books section, highly recommended reading for anyone interested in these early coins.

And it's certainly a 13-R, if there was still any question.
