ebay is surely aware that buyers can fraudulently claim that a package never arrived. Does anyone know their thoughts on this issue? Why they have chosen this route? Somewhere in the company, somebody sat down and wrote a policy, with reasons. I used to work for the government. Policies are set by a few people getting together and making decisions.

Write a well worded, factual and straight forward complaint to the BBB in the USA. I did this to PayPal after a buyer tried this with me, ebay denied, denied, denied, paypal denied, denied, denied, etc... wrote on BBB website received a callback a few days later, got it covered. This seems like a good reason to write up on ebay and/or paypal, maybe one or both of these groups would care after it is publicly posted on something like the BBB.

wow... that's pretty straight up evil. You'd think this would be something the cops could help with!

That is why we only ship tracked Now . 99.99 % eradicates the vermin , disguised as a buyer! Back in the day we used to get an " I did not receive my item " at least once a week. I hate to say it , almost all of our issues were with buyers in Canada . Having been with Canada Post for 22 years and knowing how the system works , we were being scammed and ebay did nothing but back up the buyer ! The penalties for mail fraud in Canada are pretty weak and virtually never enforced . This is unlike the US where mail fraud is pretty heavy duty stuff!

Quote: That is why we only ship tracked Now i dont blame you for doing that but what sucks are these thieves are messing with it up for the rest of us, nothing worse than seeing a coin for $20 but then seeing the postage at $15 .this also sucks for the sellers because they are missing out on the money that buyers would be willing to bid higher on items with cheaper shipping, I have had a couple coins "lost" in the mail last guy was a bidder who won an item on one day he paid I shipped then next day won another and I shipped that one too, and he claims neither arrived allthough they werent high value item so whatever sounds too fishy he was very polite and was working with me etc.. so who knows?

I'm not saying that everyone is up front, but I've had issues with mail lately (must be because of Covid) but in several instances, I had mail not show up until I filed a claim. Even Gidjit's package to me got lost (until I filed a missing mail claim ), so it could be possible

Canada Post delivery rate of mail is almost always reliable. I got burned once, by a buyer only 40 km away. So since I had their address, I showed up there with a handful of my more "interesting" motorcycle buddies... He admitted to receiving the package, and I got my money back. I then had a RCMP friend follow up with an email to that buyer... probably scared him straight... Stuff I find at face value (minor varieties, errors or low value stuff), I send as letterpost to well established ebay members (yes, I check feedback first). But now, absolutely anything coined in silver, I automatically ensure the shipping has tracking. Often, I'll have a buyer that will buy like 4-5 things at once. I'll often upgrade the parcel to expedited shipping (at my own cost) - everyone likes a buyer who goes shopping and buys several pieces... I do realize that new buyers will buy stuff (we were all there someday) - so sometimes when I have a new buyer (20 feedback or less), I'll upgrade the package to expedited (VentureOne Membership with Canada Post helps), 19 times out of 20, it is not necessary, but as long as the extra costs don't exceed the potential loss, I am ok with it.

I have been selling 10 to 30 items a week for quite a few years. I track very few items and have a loss rate of well under 1%. I have not had a lost item for three or four months now. With the hassles of shipping during COVID, I sent out a $200+ coin the other week with no tracking. No problem.
I think that the seller is the loser with tracked shipping. The buyer only cares about the shipped price all inclusive. So the cost of tracking is mostly coming out of the hide of the seller. If you are shipping $50 coins with tracked shipping at say $15, you need a loss rate of close to 20% to justify tracking. Otherwise it is a losing proposition for the seller.
Sure its no fun to have to refund an untracked shipment. But you need to think in your mind that every time you had an untracked shipment received, you are up $10+ for not tracking.

Has anyone went and paid this guy a visit? Just to ask him in person why some much coins seem to not deliver at his address? Or get the cops involved? With all the information here, it is clearly a scam and not just bad luck from canada post deliveries.

Good news everyone .... got this clown banned again. After I made a comment on his board to search fralaroc-48 on google to see many who have been robbed he changed his name to espacec within minutes .... now it says he is no longer a registered user. Unfortunately I didn't get the money back from ebay though
