@g048406, unless my old eyes deceive me, I see all three markers for 1899 VAM-1A which makes your coin a bona fide proof. The missing hair at the curl is a known die polishing marker for later die state 1899 proofs. Fantastic photos, by the way! EDIT: I also suspect that you knew exactly where I was heading when I asked for the closeups.  Awesome coin! Edited by fortcollins

Seeing these PLs, DMPLs and proofs only reminds me once again just how beautiful a Morgan can be. Of all the classic coins, it's the Morgan that constantly draws me like a magnet.
