The before and after make me ill. What a waste.

I will buy an artificially toned coin at a lower price, provided that the surfaces have not otherwise been disturbed. Why? Artificial rainbow toning is unstable, and silver coins that suffer from this, will eventually patinate like all other silver coins, to a even dull gray color. That may take anywhere from one to two years, to decades.

I never sell coins so I just wouldn't sell anything to that individual. However, I also never buy toned coins so what he does with them concerns only toned coin buyers. It is such a shame people are fooled by things like this in coins.

I'm assuming those are all just collector memberships where all it means is they filled out the paper work and paid a fee, the PCGS one for sure is a collector membership. I do agree that someone who has joined that many should and probably does know better, but as a collector member it really means nothing. I've always said though judge the individual or specific business, not their memberships as even as a dealer many of the memberships mean nothing in terms of being policed

Once it's out of my hands, whatever happens to it is not my problem anymore. I could care less if he flushed it down the toilet, as long as I get paid.

I didn't intend to disparage the seller, he's just running a business selling artificially toned coins, and it looks like he's pretty successful. My quandary was whether I should support a business I don't approve of by providing him with source material for his craft. I guess I'll do as @basebal21 suggested and block him in the future.

He definitely destroyed the value of that 1929 Buffalo. But once you sell a coin who knows what will happen to it down the road.

This guy is a fraudulent ebay seller. Don't we owe it to others in the coin community to expose him?

It's easier to fool people than to try and convince them that they have been fooled.

@MontCollector, I have the notification from ebay on April 24 about the sale, but when I search ebay for the item number, the page no longer comes up--perhaps it's too old. His descriptions are clearly deceptive, although technically he didn't make any claims on how his Buffalo nickels were toned.
