Yep I got myself a coin inventory programme and have found I am always adding bits of info to it - taking photos of the coins, searching on the internet for some more info to add.
I surf around on e-bay as well, checking out selling prices of similar coins I have.

I sit down and read coin books and catalogues.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

It's pretty simple for me. My uncle was .... a Dark Sider! When he passed he left me his collection of .... Ancients which he of course did not catalog. So when I'm bored I get one coin - operative word 'one' and for several hours maybe days!! try to identify. This is so additive whenever I see one - not identified - I pick it up. SO there is always a few around to work on - Never boring -

AAHHHHHHHH. Your kidding of course. Being a recent stage 4 cancer survivor I find that every minute of every day is critacle. Even if you just recount every coin, recheck them all for errors, go to a coin store you've never been to, coin shows, check out garage/yard, estate sales for coins, ask everyone you know if they have any old jars, cans, boxes of coins you can have. As an example not long ago there was an article in the Numismatic News about a second 1982 reverse side Lincoln Cent Double Die found. This made me go look at every one of my 1982 coins for a possible one. Look for any old, worthless coins that are contaminated with something and try to clean it off. Document that and let everyone here know what you did. Of course you could just go outside and get some exercize.

The last time I had nothing to stuff in a 2x2, catalog or photograph I bought a 5 pound bulk lot of coins to sort through. I still haven't finished sorting and stuffing them into 2x2's and it's been better than 6 months.

Sean1011: Not sure how big your collection is but as noted already have you tried to catalog all your coins? With types, denominations, mint marks, grades, purchase price, present value, locations, etc? Go out to flea markets, garage/yard/estate sales and ASK for coins. Look up hobby or coin stores in your area and go there? Look up coin shows and go there? Ask everyone at work, neighbors, relatives for any coins at all and look through them? Or just pile them all up, pack them in a large box, send to me. Then start collecting all over again.

Bored ?......at a standstill ? That's NEVER happened to me !..... most assuredly it's because I seem to be so unorganized all of the time ! There is ALWAYS work for me to do.... Taking pictures of coins Beginning a "spreadsheet" or something to categorize everything the way I want. Putting coins in 2 x 2's Putting coins in tubes Organizing dates and mintmarks of Wheat cent dupes. Going through small piles of Buffalo's and IHC's that I've bought a long time ago that need organization. Buying more currency albums and segregating the dozens and dozens of Silver Certificates I've picked up. Going through State Qtrs. and getting rid of unnecesary ones I've saved to make future SHQ. Albums.......and deciding which ones are "upgrades". Constantly trying to attain P and D mint of the SHQ's as well. I'm always buying "little batches" of still more coins that need attention in the aforementioned manner as well. I've never "had all of my work done" pertaining to my coin collection ! It remains a never-ending joyful mess to contend with ! But really, for me, that kind of stuff is a "winter time" project. When it's too cold to be doing other things.....

Go to the bank and buy more rolls! I can't really relate at the moment, I've got over $200 in cents waiting to be gone through... Mostly I browse ebay bidding 3/4 melt value for things and watching for anything that's been miscategorized or poorly worded.

I have a rather small collection. and I can't quite go to bank at 11 oclock at night, which is usually when I become bored.
I already went through my whole family's coin jar's and made a wish list with ABP on them.
I guess what I can start to do is take inventory like yo guys mentioned. Any software I can download for free? that any1 knows about?

You can scour. Look for coins. Check the furniture. Under and behind furniture, especially dressers. Dirty clothes on the floor, the dryer & lint trap. The vacuum cleaner, uh, outside. Yeah! Outside! Check the car! Under the seats and mats, and cupholders and glovebox. Keep going, around the entry and garage doors and in the play area. Around mailboxes. I've gotten gas money, and feed myself and friends this way before. I've scoured on a Navy ship many times and usually ended up with more than a dollar. Then down to the enlisted club and the loose slots in the basement. Or save it up and get a metal detector....

If it's night time you get bored there are numerous coin related things you could be doing. First you case the neighbors houses. That means to watch them. If you see a patern where they go out consistantly at the same time, rob them of any coins you find. Many 711's are open at night and you could rob them of all their change. Not many cops go looking for a criminal that steals only change. Find a busy corner in a busy, large city and stand on the corner with a pan, jar or can and beg for coins. Make sure you tell everyone you don't want any of those lousy bills. By the way if you don't already have Excel on your computer, just ask anyone you know with Microsoft and they would have that program. Fantastic for a coin inventory. Or you could steal that also. Contact us from jail and let us know how things are going.
