Try looking at what you can get at the Perth Mint
it will be a nice change.

The royal Australian Mint also has some nice sets

Wow that's extremely depressing

I know exactly what you mean though too.
I think the US is getting out of control with all these commemorative quarters/presidents/nickels. Its a little much.

But I think I'm going to stay with the proof sets.
Basically because it will make for a good Christmas present because everyone asks what I want.

As the buyer, I did indeed end up with a beautiful series of silver proof sets. They will compliment my proof and mint sets very nicely.

The transaction has super smooth and I thank Prethen for the fast shipping and the constant communication.

I will keep them safe for years to come.

I stopped in 2006 and really only started in 1999. Should probably dump a lot of mine as well.

Let me know when you want to unload a CC Twenty Cent Piece cheap Prethen. I'll take care of it for you.

The title scared me at first... for a moment, I thought Prethen might have given up on the 3CN!

I still buy the silver proof sets from the mint. In fact, that's ALL I buy from the mint.

This may be my last year. Next year will be very expensive.

Oops...Eagles, I changed a word that I mistyped. I said keep the "condition" when I meant keep the "tradition". I never meant to insinuate that you wouldn't keep them in good shape. See what happens when you type too fast and don't reread your entire post.

So far since about the 50's I've bought proof and uncirc sets from the Mint. I used to get about 15 of each mostly for Chrismas presents. Keep a few myself. Never purchsed a Silver Proof set though and don't miss them. I think the Mint is going overboard with all the different items they now make. I've got Gold coins and Silver coins but so far no Silver Proof sets.

I think the Silver Proof sets are actually quite beautiful and have a nicer (bright white) look than the clad sets. I used to own every Proof set going back to 1942. All gone now.

So Prethen......are you feeling "relieved" and "excited" about the focus, now in other areas, or are you kind of missing them with a little sadness/melancholy ?
Not an ounce of regret ?
Completely done with Moderns now ?

Other than collecting the State Quarters for my daughter and me (just taking a few examples for coin boards and coin tubes), I don't actively pursue anything post-1889.

That's not to say that I don't occasionaly pounce on a deal that will have some 20th+ century material or I don't recognize nicer quality stuff. Heck, I still think the Standing Liberty quarters (I wouldn't necessarily qualify as "modern") are one of the most beautiful coins the Mint ever struck.

Good !!....Glad to hear it !...
I'm excited to potentially be the beneficiary of "both" from you again and again and again, from deals you've "pounced on" !...

Sort of don't blame you. If you are anything like me they just went into a box and vanished for looking at for almost for ever. All of mine are there, maybe, I think. Don't know since I haven't looked at proof or uncirc sets in about 10 years. I just keep putting new ones in the same place and asking myself WHY?
