If it weighs 3.0 it may be the real deal but the rim doesn't look quite right to me. It's either copper or heavily plated zinc.

If you could, take a pic of the cent on the scale.

Take a picture of the scale. That's very interesting that the weight is off.

You can do a "drop" test. Copper will have a ring to it compared to zinc cent. If this is a legit copper cent. HUGE congratulations to you!
Cheers

The little pits I see all over it is an indication of it being a zincoln. Double check your scale would be my first recommendation. Second, better clear pics. John1

What is the precision of your scale? How many places after the decimal? If it only weighs whole grams even a very slightly over spec zinc cent will show as 3 grams.
OK missed it, you said it weighed 3.0 grams. That leaves checking to make sure the scale is accurate. If it is then it would be a GOOD idea to get it certified.

I had posted earlier that the rim doesn't look quite right. I stand by that and believe it is nothing more than a zinc cent. May be heavily plated but a zinc cent nonetheless.

I would think that 3.1g is within the range of a copper cent...congrats.
