Wowzers! That's quite the find.

It's interesting that the obverse die looks like MDS or possibly EMDS. It chipped quickly.

Thank you fortcollins! It's one heck of a craxy coin! That die fell apart early.

Yes Coop, that's a Rim Cud, on the rim. It's very interesting too. It's actually retained, so could I call it a Retained Rim Cud?

Thank you XavierOfGreen! I also found a second 2000 Wide AM cent, from the same exact box. I'll post it in a bit.

The obverse strike seems a bit misaligned. Misaligned strikes are often accompanied by a false rim to one side or the side left exposed. Thanks, Doug.

Just a rim Cud. Rim Cuds don't move, like retained die breaks.

Okay Coop, but is it possible for a Rim Cud to be retained though? Can it happen by any chance? Just wondering out of curiosity. Not trying to say that you're wrong or anything. Once those two questions are answered, I'll be good.

Doesn't a tilted die do that also? If so,how to tell the difference?

False rims can manifest in several ways. For me the cause is not always a one size fits all category. See link below. Thanks, Doug.
